Smartwater - $1 Rebate

Glaceau Smartwater is a brand of bottled water owned by Energy Brands, a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company. Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling Company launched a program to help promote sales of Smartwater. They partnered with Circle K retailers and 3 tier logic to launch a gift with purchase program exclusively in California. Participants who purchased eligible bottles of Smartwater from Circle K retailers were rewarded with their choice of a $1 rebate via PayPal or Venmo. This is the second program Reyes Coca-Cola activated with 3 tier logic.

Strategy

3 tier logic used PLATFORM³ to create a microsite for the client’s gift with purchase promotion, leveraging the following modules:

  • Contests and Promotions

  • Purchase Receipt Validation

  • Gift Cards & Rewards

  • Data Capture & Analytics

When consumers purchase a participating Smartwater product from participating Circle K locations in California, they are eligible to receive a $1 PayPal or Venmo reward. Through the Purchase Receipt Validation technology on PLATFORM³, customers can validate their purchase by registering and uploading a picture of their receipt to the promotion microsite. Once their purchase has been validated, customers receive an email with their $1 PayPal or Venmo reward and instructions on how to redeem it. Consumers were limited to one reward per email address. 3 tier logic provided the PayPal and Venmo reward via its digital rewards catalog.

With PLATFORM³, Smartwater was able to collect valuable data about their consumers’ purchasing behavior throughout the duration of the promotion. The Data Capture & Analytics module provides actionable insights into users’ activity on the microsite. Smartwater is able to use this data to make strategic decisions and create future marketing promotions for continued sales, ROI, and customer engagement.
