Promo Point is an American retail shopper marketing agency and a division of Advantage Solutions Inc. Giant Eagle is an American supermarket chain with stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Maryland. Promo Point partnered with 3 tier logic on behalf of their CPG clients Unilever, Mizkan, Oberto, GlaxoSmithKline, and Del Monte to launch their regional ‘Giant Eagle Magic Memories’ holiday gift with purchase promotion, exclusive to Giant Eagle retailers in Pennsylvania. Participating brands included Knorr, Hellmann’s, Ragu, and Tums.

Strategy

3 tier logic used PLATFORM³ to create a skinny microsite for Promo Point’s ‘Giant Eagle Magic Memories’ holiday gift with purchase promotion, leveraging the following modules:

  • Contests and Promotions

  • Purchase Receipt Validation

  • Data Capture & Analytics

When consumers purchase $20 worth of qualifying products in one transaction at participating Giant Eagle retailers in Pennsylvania, they are eligible to receive a $12.50 Santa Key (digital reward code), which goes towards a virtual meet-and-greet with Santa Claus. Through the Purchase Receipt Validation technology on PLATFORM³, customers can validate their purchase by registering and uploading a picture of their receipt to the promotion microsite. Once their purchase has been validated, customers receive an email with their $12.50 digital reward code and instructions on how to redeem it.

Using PLATFORM³, Promo Point was able to track their promotion’s progress in real-time and capture valuable data about their CPG clients’ customers’ purchasing behavior. The information collected through the Data Capture & Analytics module provides insights on consumers’ activity on the microsite throughout the promotion’s duration. Promo Point is able to use this data to make well-informed business decisions for future promotions to continue driving sales and improving customer retention.
